A Holiday Surprise

Here we have my human nephew, Bobby. He's a nice little fellow and I'm always happy to see him. I even let him play with my stuffies.

And now he will be getting a big surprise from Human Great Granny and Great Grampy.

You see, whilst on a reconnaissance mission into the attic space of the Greats, Momma and my Human Uncle happened to find Human Uncle's old rocking chair, circa 1953, which makes it even older than momma, and they are going to give it to Wee Bobby.

What a cool gift, right? Well, it will be once it is safely at Bobby's estate, because you see momma had the bright idea of "Oh, Dexter, you can pose with the chair to show it off to everybody and I can also take some photos to use on next year's holiday card."

Well, if there is anything that momma has no patience (or aptitude) for, it is artfully created holiday photos.

As exemplified here where you can see lack of proper framing revealing ugly couch and pillow background (not to mention no-face flash back monkey in the chair).

I am not amused by neck ornament.

Or how about this one where she cropped out my labratail in order to get rid of the couch (monkey still no-face flashy).

Actually, I look fairly labradorable in this one.

So I am apologizing in advance if either of these shows up on my card next year. One must choose one's battles. But at least you can see how keen the little rocker is and hopefully Nephew Bobby will enjoy it.

Dexter done!

  1. You actually look really labradorable in the second photo - we wouldn't have even noticed the cropped-out tail if you hadn't mentioned it. We think you Momma did a good job - she even got the dog-appropriate ornaments in the second photo.

  2. It has to be said Dexter that you are not exactly looking full of the Christmas spirit in either of those photos...
Better tell Momma to keep at it...
    Happy Christmas,

  3. We think your mom has done a fine job with your photos, especially the second one. Maybe you can put Photoshop in her Christmas stocking so she can touch it up a bit and give the monkey back his face. You certainly do look festive Dexter. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  8. OMD just THINK of all the Books that have been Read in that FABULOUS Rocker. THAT sorta Makes everythingy OK with the pictures. RIGHT?

  9. Poor Pea, having to put up with your momma's photo attempts. I had to do that today as well, when momma decided she needed a photo of me with the tree, and a photo of me wearing antlers, and a photo of me wearing a Santa hat, and a photo of me on the front porch to showcase the various wreaths & pretty gold ornaments hanging over the doorway. But I must agree that you're labradorable, and we LOVED your card and the labradorable photo on it. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas! (If it were me, I'd try to place a few teethmarks on the lovely rocking chair, like I did to my dad's grandma's antique sideboard.)

    your pal in labness,

  10. (but I know you're too much of a good boy to chew on furniture)

  11. Dexter, 1953 was a very good year! You always look labradorable, according to our mom. Sheesh!

  19. Oh Dexter - I think you're unfair to your Momma - we think the 2nd photo is actually really good! Beautiful framing and subject placement - and lovely colours! (Yeah, Hsin-Yi hates the flash which is why she always tries to wait to do our photos in the daytime, with the windows wide open...)

We do love your "not-amused" expression though - ha! ha! :-)

Just wanted to pop by and wish you & Momma & Master a Merry Christmas! Wishing you lots of joy & laughter this festive season!

    Honey the Great Dane

  20. Dexter,

Your human nephew is a cutie!!!
My brofur has one of those chair as well. It was my daddy's chair when he was little human pup.
I know your human nephew would love it!

  21. Oh, Dexter! I think you look TOTALLY Labradorable! Really.
Have you tried chewing on that chair? It looks really tasty. Just wondering. You could also eat the bow and that ruffle thing around your neck.
    Just brainstorming.
    Yours sincerely,
    Margaret Thatcher
